Okay, 2017… things are going to change a bit around here. This year, I have decided to use this blog as a meeting ground. A place where the virtual gaps narrow and everybody knows your name. Cue the Cheers music, please.
So what is this new adventure, you ask? I would like to take this opportunity and introduce you to my very first blogging challenge as the hostess/creator. Let’s keep it real, folks. Welcome to my 2017 Monthly Shape Adventure.
This challenge will be open to all ages and quite simple. It’s not as challenging as the term suggests. This is for anyone who may share my interest in geometric shapes.
I know that there are several challenges circulating our blogosphere at this time but mine is an easy, peasy, Mac and Cheesy kind of creative challenge. More in line with an adventure… a look and find adventure. I hope you will consider it. 😊
So I plan to post a shape prompt every first Saturday of each month. Participants will have plenty of time to stretch out their creative wings within each month. No pressure. I also encourage children to take part if possible and help the grown ups along the way. This will be fun, fun, fun!
- Post anything (well, kid-friendly 😉) in respect to the shape of the month. It can be a drawing, arts and crafts, photo, and/or story.
- Use the schoolhouse inspired image that I doodled above on your posts so it is noticeable to all of us. You can resize it to your liking.
- Add your post in the comments section or link/pingback/add my corresponding post to your blog. Either one will work fine.
- Like, comment, and connect by tagging #shapeadventure so that we can find each other on WordPress and social media.
Pretty easy, right?
I have compiled my 12 geometric shapes (some of which were based on the season) and I hope you find them appropriate.
I will also put together a list of all the participants for this 2017 project. I just haven’t decided where this list will go yet. If you have any suggestions, feel free to let me know.
Please keep in mind that with a full-time job and family obligations, I will do my best to reach out to everyone within 24 hours. My picture book can speak for itself, but I truly hope to bring us together in celebrating shapes everywhere and what better way than this. So who’s joining me?
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention. There will be a free giveaway to the top 3 participants. The lucky person(s) will be given a copy of my picture book and a special shout out on my blog. And all participants will receive a nifty digital badge at the end of the year upon completion whether grand or small.
So we start off with our first shape which is a diamond or rhombus. It was actually rather difficult to find one. But fortunately it appears that my handy calculator at work has a diamond on one of the buttons. Sometimes, it is right under your nose! 😳
And then I wore this shirt and noticed more diamonds on it.
I used PicsArt to touch up my poor phone camera quality for both images. See how easy that was?! My kids and I are super excited!
Let the shape adventure begin!
