FiftyThree Pencil Work In Progress

I received my FiftyThree Pencil a few days ago and I am very happy with it so far. Just the feel of it in my hand while drawing or writing is outstanding! It pairs with the 53 Paper app which I had for quite some time. I took the plunge and ordered the Pencil for myself as a birthday gift. Forget the flowers! I wanted this little gem! 😍

So I have thought about posting some sketches here while I tinker with this new gadget. It will take some more time to experiment with it’s capabilities. Pencil has a wider, chalk-like body and a built-in eraser on top. Pretty amazing! It has been a great de-stressor after a busy work day.

So here are a few I worked on this week. Please keep in mind that this is my work in progress. 😊

Sketches are signed with my Korean name – Hyo Eun (효은) – which means the obedient one in case you were wondering. This name has been non-existent and only used occasionally by my native Korean relatives so I thought that it was a great idea to bring it back to life in my art. 😉

  1. I’ve been back and forth with ordering one. But the ability to smudge, smother and blend the colours (tested it with a friend’s pen) is definitely a plus. Also, the pressure feature (which is also not available when just using the fingers) is also pretty awesome. Your post is yet another friendly nudge in the direction of investing in this Paper53 pen 😉 thank you!

    • Yes, it’s pretty awesome. There is one little issue that I have been having lately. The eraser doesn’t pick up as it should. It smudges/blends rather than erase. I am certain it’s because I have a screen protector on which I cannot remove due to little children at home. LOL! Definitely a great investment to go with the 53 Paper app. 😉

      • Thanks for the follow-up review, Veronica! I can imagine that the screen protector could be the culprit here. Still did not get myself one, but currently got a set of ready-to-use Photoshop watercolour brushes. Looking forward to experimenting with them on my Cintiq! Yay!
