#WeekendTimes: Copyright Certificate Is Finally Here

Back in March 2015, I registered for a copyright certificate online for my children’s book, Owl’s Shape Adventure. The easiest and fastest way to file was electronically online. The Copyright Office states that it takes up to 8 months for e-forms and up to 13 months for paper forms. It took about 7 months for me. The registration fee for one author with one publication is $35.00. Not too bad, right? The copyright registration is voluntary and only necessary if there are lawsuits involved. Otherwise, it’s really up to the author.

For peace of mind, I wanted to have an official, tangible piece of paper with my name and my book on it. I am very excited to share it with the world today. It’s really official! 😊
