#SundayFunday No. 11: Egg Carton Critters

I saw this awesome craft by Parents Magazine on Tumblr and Pinterest (I absolutely love this site!) last week and I wanted to share it today. If you have an empty egg carton, don’t throw it away! You can create a cute forest critter out of it.

Supplies that you will need:

  • empty egg carton (styrofoam or cardboard)
  • cardboard cereal-box, colored paper, or foam sheets (if available)
  • googly eyes (optional)
  • pom poms (optional)
  • glue stick
  • scissors
  • markers or paint

Here are the step by step instructions:

From a cardboard egg carton, cut a section consisting of two cups and the raised post between them. Cut ears or antlers from cereal-box cardboard and glue them to the back rim of the carton. Paint as desired. Glue on googly eyes and a pom-pom nose. To use the puppet, press a finger or two into the back of the nose section.

With a few modifications, we made our own version of our favorite forest friend. Here is our cute owl (of course!). You can create any animal which is great. 😄

It would look nicer with paint but for a less messy activity, our markers worked fine, too! 😉
