#BallTalk No. 4: What Is Lay One Down?

No. 4

Lay one down is moving as he bunts the ball and is trying to make a single. A sacrifice bunt occurs when there is a runner (0r runners) on base and fewer than two outs. A suicide squeeze occurs when the runner on third is running and the batter must make a successful bunt. A swinging bunt happens when the batter takes a full swing but the ball merely dribbles in front of the plate as if he had meant to bunt.

K likes to bunt for her team. She is actually a very good bunter. She has brought in a lot of runs this way. 😄

*please note that this is an excerpt from a page in the “How To Speak Baseball: An Illustrated Guide To Ballpark Banter” book.
