Board games have been around for generations and they always seem to bring the whole family together. We doodle with Pictionary, we move with Charades, we focus with Scrabble, and so on. We laugh, cheer, and rejoice as winners. These are great family bonding moments.
The other night we played a Despicable Me Monopoly game as a family. M was already in bed and K was so excited to stay up a little late. She was going to play with the grown ups.
The original Monopoly game can be time consuming but this modified version was easy and fun with adorable Minion characters (note: they are very small for young children). And instead of houses, we had cupcakes and ice cream sundaes. The spinner was a bit difficult for us to use. It wasn’t spinning correctly so I used an app on my phone instead. In the movie, Gru (Steve Carell) plots a devious plan to steal “the Moon” and coincidentally it was the largest and most wanted property in the game.
This board game was actually a lot of fun and definitely far from being despicable.
We enjoyed our nice night playing board games. So consider dusting off your’s and get the family together for some classic fun.
