“Moon, Moon, Moon” by Laurie Berkner

As we were driving home from a late family gathering, M looked up at the night sky and saw a big, beautiful crescent moon smiling back at her. She said, “Look, Mommy! Moon!” You have to understand the excitement in her voice because she rarely sees the night sky. She is usually in bed by 7 p.m. And with the holidays here her schedule has shifted a bit with our late nights at our relatives.

While we all admired the moon, we sang Laurie’s song… “Moon, moon, moon“. And it goes like this:

Moon moon moon, shining bright
Moon moon moon, my nightlight
(Chick! Turn it on!)
Moon moon moon, I can see
Moon moon moon, you’re taking care of me

Moon moon moon, shining bright
Moon moon moon, my nightlight
(Chick!)
Moon moon moon, I can see
Moon moon moon, you’re taking care of me

Look up, it’s the moon
Look up, it’s the moon
Look up it’s the moon up in the sky
It’s big and round and I have found
That it looks just like a pizza pie

Moon moon moon, shining bright
Moon moon moon, my nightlight
(Chick!)
Moon moon moon, I can see
Moon moon moon, you’re taking care of me

Look up, it’s the moon
Look up, it’s the moon
Look up it’s the moon up in the sky
It’s big and round and I have found
That it looks just like a lemon pie
